A devastating incident occurred on Sunday, April 14, near the El Paso-Pueblo County line on I-25 in Colorado. A Colorado Springs motorcyclist, identified as 61-year-old Felix Aaron Abeyta, lost his life in a tragic accident. The Pueblo County Coroner confirmed the news on Wednesday, April 17, following the investigation.

Details of the Accident

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), the fatal crash took place around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. A motorcycle was traveling in the right lane of I-25, heading southbound towards the El Paso-Pueblo County line. The motorcycle was approaching a Dodge Ram 1500 towing a trailer at a high speed when it lost control.

The collision caused the driver to be thrown from the motorcycle, which continued to roll on the road. Tragically, the motorcycle crashed into the back of the trailer being towed by the truck. The impact caused the trailer to detach from the truck, hit the back of the vehicle, and then roll onto its top, eventually coming to rest in the left lane.

Fortunately, the truck was able to safely pull over to the right shoulder, while the motorcycle came to a stop in the right lane, leading to a tragic loss of life.

Identification of the Victim

Felix Aaron Abeyta, a resident of Colorado Springs, was the motorcyclist involved in the accident. Following the crash, Abeyta was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Pueblo County Coroner released his identity to the public, shedding light on the heartbreaking incident.

Factors Contributing to the Crash

While the investigation is ongoing, CSP has ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors to the crash. However, speed has been indicated as a significant factor in the tragic accident that claimed the life of Felix Aaron Abeyta.
