Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Tragic Murder in Moreno Valley Home

In a devastating turn of events, Ricardo Rivera, a convicted felon, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for fatally stabbing his 23-year-old girlfriend, Ashley Brosious, at his Moreno Valley home. The incident took place on January 17, 2019, at Rivera’s residence in the 23100 block of Denver Court, near Adeline Avenue.

Details of the Incident

Deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of a woman in need of medical aid. Upon arrival, they found Brosious deceased with obvious signs of trauma. Rivera was at the house and was taken into custody without incident. A knife, identified as the murder weapon, was seized inside the residence.

Relationship between Rivera and Brosious

Rivera and Brosious had been romantically involved for an unspecified period before the tragic attack. The motive behind the murder remains unexplained, leaving many questions unanswered.

Prior Criminal History

Court records revealed that Rivera had a prior conviction for domestic violence in 2017, although the victim in that case was someone other than Brosious. This history of violence adds a chilling layer to the case.

Sentencing and Future Proceedings

As part of a plea agreement with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, Rivera admitted to the charge of first-degree murder. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a deadly weapon. Superior Court Judge Jason Armand scheduled a sentencing hearing for June 7, with a stipulated term of 25 years to life in state prison for the defendant.

With Rivera currently held without bail at Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, the community awaits the final resolution of this tragic and senseless crime.
