The Colorado Springs Police Department Identifies Victim of Fatal Motorcycle Crash
On April 2nd, a tragic incident occurred at the intersection of Academy and Astrozon in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a hit-and-run crash where a vehicle struck a motorcyclist and then fled the scene, causing damage to multiple property items.
Eye Witness Account Leads to Arrest
An eyewitness at the scene saw the vehicle fleeing and eventually crashing into a curb. Quick to act, the witness contacted 911, leading officers to the driver who was taken into custody. The driver, identified as 60-year-old Adbou Toraore, was suspected of impairment.
Victim Identified
Tragically, the motorcyclist, identified as 59-year-old Allen J Yankowsky, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office confirmed his identity.
Charges Filed
CSPD has charged the driver with vehicular homicide, DUI, and other traffic-related offenses. This incident marks the 16th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, with a total of 50 fatalities in the past 365 days.
