Over the weekend, remains discovered in Oklahoma have been positively identified as two Kansas women who went missing last month. The victims, 27-year-old Veronica Butler and 39-year-old Jilian Kelley, were confirmed by the state medical examiner, sparking a murder investigation that has led to four arrests.
Disappearance and Discovery
Butler and Kelley were reported missing on March 30 under suspicious circumstances when their abandoned vehicle was found on a highway in Texas County, Oklahoma, just south of the Oklahoma-Kansas border. The missing persons alert from Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated that the women were on their way to pick up children before they vanished.
On Saturday, four individuals, including Tad Bert Cullum, Tifany Machel Adams, Cole Earl Twombly, and Cora Twombly, were arrested on first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of Butler and Kelley. The bodies of the two women were discovered a day later in rural Texas County.

An unsealed affidavit revealed disturbing details about the suspects. Adams, the paternal grandmother of Butler’s children, was engaged in a custody battle with Butler. Adams and Callum were in a relationship, according to the affidavit.
All four suspects were members of an anti-government group called “God’s Misfits,” known to gather at the Twomblys’ residence and other locations. A teenage witness informed investigators that the suspects had previously attempted to harm Butler.
Adams had purchased stun guns and burner phones before the women disappeared. The affidavit stated that blood and a broken hammer were found near the abandoned vehicle, linking the suspects to the crime scene.
