Tragic Incident at Indo-Nepal Border in Lakhimpur Kheri

Located along the picturesque Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan met a tragic end on Tuesday, April 16. The jawan, identified as Sanjay Yadav, was stationed at the Danga Border Outlet Post of Tikunia Kotwali area when the incident occurred.

Sanjay Yadav, a 33-year-old resident of Firozabad district, allegedly took his own life by shooting himself with his service rifle. The sound of the gunshot alerted his fellow soldiers, who found him lying in a pool of blood inside the SSB camp barracks. Despite their efforts to save him, Yadav succumbed to his injuries at the nearby Community Health Centre.

Investigation and Previous Incidents

Inspector Tikunia Manoj Kumar Singh stated that the reasons behind Yadav’s extreme step are still unknown, and further investigation is underway. This unfortunate incident comes just a month after another SSB jawan, Ravi Arya, ended his life by hanging himself along the same border.

Ravi Arya, hailing from Rathaura village in Baghpat district, added to the grim series of events involving SSB jawans. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the mental health challenges faced by those serving in high-stress environments.

Seeking Help and Support

In times of distress, it is crucial to reach out for help and support. Suicide is never the solution, and there are resources available for those in need. Organisations like Sneha Foundation and iCall provide round-the-clock assistance for individuals grappling with suicidal thoughts or emotional distress.

As the investigation into Sanjay Yadav’s tragic demise continues, the focus remains on raising awareness about mental health issues and promoting a culture of openness and support within armed forces personnel.
