The assailant, identified as Mukesh and residing in a slum cluster in Nand Nagri, shot and killed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dinesh Sharma while he was riding a motorcycle. This tragic incident has left the neighbourhood reeling in disbelief.

Financial Dispute Leads to Tragic Outcome

Initial investigations revealed that Mukesh had a financial dispute with the deceased officer, alleging that Sharma owed him ₹5 lakh but had not repaid the amount. Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey stated that the motive behind the crime is still being probed, with authorities leaving no stone unturned in their search for answers.

The sequence of events began with Mukesh targeting a biker on the flyover before proceeding to fire at scooter rider Amit Kumar, injuring him. He then boarded an auto-rickshaw, where a tense confrontation with the driver ensued. Shots were fired, narrowly missing the driver, before Mukesh tragically took his own life inside the vehicle.
