Two individuals have been apprehended by the Mumbai Crime Branch late on Monday night for allegedly firing shots outside the home of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in Bandra West on April 14. According to reports from various media outlets, the suspects, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal from Champaran, Bihar, were captured in Bhuj, Gujarat, after fleeing Mumbai following the shooting.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the two accused arrived at Salman Khan’s Galaxy residence on a motorcycle and discharged five rounds. One of the bullets struck the balcony of the actor’s house, raising concerns about the safety of the celebrity.

After the shooting, Gupta and Pal abandoned their motorcycle near Bandra Railway Station and made their way to Bhuj, Gujarat, via a series of train journeys. The Mumbai Crime Branch described the attack as a “well-planned assault,” supported by CCTV footage showing one of the suspects firing towards Salman Khan’s residence.

An FIR was lodged at the Bandra Police Station, detailing the firing of four rounds and the discovery of a live cartridge at the scene. In response, the Mumbai Police deployed ten Crime Branch teams outside Galaxy Apartments to ensure the safety of the area.

Sources have suggested that the two men may have been acting on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for their criminal activities. Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of Lawrence, who is currently imprisoned, had claimed responsibility for the attack shortly after it took place.

The Bishnoi gang has a history of issuing threats against Salman Khan due to his involvement in the killing of a blackbuck in Rajasthan during a movie shoot in 1998. The Bishnoi community, which considers the blackbuck to be sacred, had filed a complaint against the actor following the incident.

Since November 2022, Salman Khan’s security has been heightened to the Y-Plus level due to threats from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. Additionally, Khan has been granted permission to carry a personal firearm and has acquired an armoured vehicle for added protection.
