Tragic Accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Claims Life of Pedestrian

On a fateful Sunday morning, tragedy struck along the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Lenuwa Village. The incident involved a Mitsubishi truck with the number plate KTU209YF, which tragically veered off course and struck an unsuspecting pedestrian on the sidewalk.

Eye-Witness Account

According to eyewitness reports, the accident occurred around 9:55 AM as the fully loaded truck was en route to Ibadan. Moses, a bystander at the scene, recounted the harrowing events. He described how the truck, travelling at high speed, suddenly lost control and careened towards the pedestrian, throwing him into a nearby ditch.

As the truck somersaulted multiple times before hitting the unfortunate pedestrian, the driver and his assistant, also known as the motorboy, sustained injuries. Both individuals were quickly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Official Statement

Confirming the incident, Omolola Odutola, the state Public Relations Officer, provided further details. She explained, “The driver and motor boy sustained wounds in the accident. The driver, travelling from Lagos towards Lenuwa Village on the Motorway, lost control of the vehicle, leading to the tragic collision with the pedestrian.”

Following the collision, all injured parties were promptly transported to a hospital in Sagamu. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical facility.
