About the Incident in Vinton, Virginia
A man from Hardy is currently in custody following a tragic incident in Vinton, Virginia that resulted in the death of one man and injuries to a woman. The Vinton Police reported that the incident took place in the 800 block of Washington Avenue in Vinton early on Monday, April 8, at 4:21 a.m.
Details of the Incident
Upon responding to a disturbance call, officers found a man with a gunshot wound and a woman with a stab wound. Both victims were rushed to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the male victim, identified as 58-year-old Terrence Burton, succumbed to his injuries. The 43-year-old woman was treated and later released.
Suspect in Custody
Shane Stager, a 44-year-old man from Hardy, was apprehended and charged with malicious wounding and possession of a firearm by a non-violent felon. He is currently being held at the Roanoke County Jail.
No Public Threat
