A man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a stabbing incident on Monday morning in downtown Victoria. This marks the seventh stabbing in the city since March 1, with two of the incidents being suspected homicides, according to the Victoria police. Despite the recent spate of stabbings, the police have reiterated that these incidents are isolated and not significantly higher than in previous years.

Incident Details

At around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, traffic officers were alerted to a stabbing in the 600-block of Yates Street. Upon arrival, the police found a male victim and administered first-aid before he was transported to the hospital. Forensics officers cordoned off three separate sites to collect evidence related to the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing.

Police Response

Victoria police have increased patrols in the downtown core in recent months, including foot patrols, to ensure the safety of the community. They have urged witnesses to come forward with any information or video footage related to Monday’s stabbing. Previous Incidents

This recent stabbing follows two fatal incidents in April. On April 1, a man was found dead near the intersection of Pandora Avenue and Blanshard Street, with another victim sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. Robert Henry Travers was charged with aggravated assault in this case. Then, on April 9, another fatal stabbing occurred on Douglas Street near Burnside Road, resulting in the death of Oliver Nicholson.
