EUNICE, La. (KLFY) — Authorities in Eunice have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that took place last May, resulting in one person being injured. Louis Daniel Jones, a 20-year-old resident of Eunice, is facing five charges of attempted second-degree murder in relation to the incident.

The shooting occurred on May 14, 2023, in the vicinity of East Maple Ave. and Hwy 13 South, where multiple gunshots were reported. One individual, who was sitting in his truck at the time, sustained minor injuries from the gunfire. Additionally, bullets struck a residence located at 200 East Maple Avenue, where occupants narrowly escaped harm. A total of five victims and three suspects were involved in the altercation.

Following a tip received by Eunice Police on Monday, officers located Jones near a local business establishment. Upon being approached by law enforcement, Jones attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief pursuit. This arrest marks the second individual taken into custody in connection with the shooting, with a 15-year-old juvenile having been previously arrested and charged with five counts of attempted second-degree murder.
