In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded in Omaha, Nebraska, a missing dog was discovered wrapped in duct tape and abandoned in a dumpster. The Nebraska Humane Society stepped in to rescue the helpless animal from a dire situation.

Reports indicate that employees at the Omaha accounting firm, Sweets & Associates, initially heard noises coming from the dumpster on a Sunday evening, assuming it was a common raccoon. However, the following day revealed a distressing sight – a dog trapped inside the bin. The poor animal’s fur was matted with food and dirt, and duct tape was cruelly wound around its head, legs, and tail, as shared by employees at the shelter.

“I have never witnessed anything like it,” expressed Kevin Wiederin, a member of the Sweets & Associates staff who made the shocking discovery.

ABC’s Omaha affiliate KETV reported that the dog, later identified as Leo, was rescued mere minutes before the garbage collection was scheduled, thanks to the swift actions of the humane society.

Shelter employees promptly sedated Leo and proceeded to give him a thorough bath to rid him of the debris and filth he was encased in. Despite some skin irritation, the humane society reassured that the dog was in high spirits after waking up from the ordeal.

Efforts to reunite Leo with his owner were successful, as a microchip helped the humane society trace her down. Overjoyed at Leo’s safe return, his owner, Erin Pasillas, shared, “He’s the sweetest dog! I don’t understand why anyone would commit such a cruel act.”

For those with any information regarding this appalling incident, Omaha Animal Control urges you to come forward. The humane society is offering a reward of £1,000 for any valuable leads in the case.
