Several good samaritans, including Jonathan Adam Lecompte, tried to intervene to prevent the carjacking. In a shocking turn of events, Lecompte fired multiple shots from his handgun in an attempt to stop Driggers from stealing his NCDOT work truck. Despite Lecompte’s efforts, the suspect managed to enter the vehicle, put it in reverse, and accelerate towards him.
