Tragic Accident in Stirau Area, Jalan Sri Aman-Linggaon

SRI AMAN: A devastating accident took place in the serene Stirau area, along Jalan Sri Aman-Linggaon, on the fateful day of April 15. The incident unfolded when a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) lost control and collided head-on with a cement-mixer lorry, resulting in a tragic loss of life and injuries.

Details of the Accident

The MPV, carrying three individuals, was en route to Lingga from Sri Aman when it veered into the opposite lane, leading to the catastrophic collision. The impact caused the lorry to crash into a roadside ditch, while the MPV was dragged to the left side of the road in a harrowing turn of events.

Loss of Lives

The accident claimed the lives of the MPV’s driver, 56-year-old Joll Mohamad, and a passenger, 62-year-old Latifah Mohamad, who were siblings. Their bodies were swiftly transported to Sri Aman Hospital for post-mortem procedures, as the community mourned the tragic loss.

Injuries and Immediate Treatment

Another passenger in the MPV sustained serious injuries and was promptly rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. Additionally, the lorry driver, a 43-year-old man, suffered minor injuries in the collision and was also taken to the hospital for further assessment and care.

Police Investigation

Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie revealed that investigations are underway under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 to determine the cause of the accident.
