Shootout Erupts at Frayser Convenience Store

A dramatic scene unfolded in Frayser, Memphis, as two teenagers and a man were detained following a shootout at a convenience store. The incident took place at the Shell Station on Range Line Road in the early hours of April 16.

Police Respond to Gunshots

Patrol officers patrolling along Hollywood Road were alerted by the sound of gunfire coming from the Shell Station. Upon arriving at the scene, they witnessed passengers inside a Nissan firing shots at another vehicle, which was later identified as a Chevy Malibu.

Chaos Ensues

The situation escalated quickly as the Nissan driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to spin out. The passengers then exited the car and fled the scene. One male was apprehended nearby, while a second male was captured behind a nearby shopping center.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Details

Upon reviewing the store’s surveillance video, officers observed the passengers from the Nissan entering the store before returning to their vehicle. A Chevy Malibu then pulled up in front of the Nissan, and a man emerged from the Malibu, opening fire on the Nissan. In retaliation, the passengers in the Nissan returned fire.

Victim Sustains Injury

Shortly after the shootout, police received reports of a gunshot victim with a head wound. Officers located a 14-year-old boy on James Road who had been grazed by a bullet. The injured teenager was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in a non-critical condition.

Suspects Apprehended

Following the incident, two individuals, a 15-year-old and a 21-year-old, who were with the Nissan during the shootout, were taken in for questioning at the police station. Despite a thorough search of the area, no firearms were recovered.
