On a fateful evening near the Chandimandir light point, a 25-year-old man, Manmohan Singh Mehta, lost his life in a heart-wrenching hit-and-run incident. The incident occurred when the Activa he was riding pillion on was struck by a tipper, leaving him fatally injured. His friend, Yogesh, who was driving the Activa, also sustained injuries in the tragic mishap.

Manmohan, a resident of Sector 20, Chandigarh, was enjoying a ride with his friend on a pleasant Sunday evening. Little did they know that their journey would take a tragic turn at the Chandimandir light point. As they approached the intersection, a tipper with a Haryana registration number rammed into their two-wheeler from behind, causing them to be thrown off and run over by the heavy vehicle.

Immediate Response and Outcome

Upon receiving the distressing call about the accident, Manmohan’s brother, Ved Prakash, rushed to the scene only to find his brother lifeless on the road. Both Manmohan and Yogesh were swiftly taken to the civil hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula. Tragically, Manmohan was declared brought dead, while Yogesh was rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in critical condition.

The driver of the tipper callously fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle that had caused such devastation. An FIR was filed at the Chandimandir police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving, endangering human life, causing death by negligence, and mischief causing damage.
