Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A tragic incident unfolded in Springfield on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the loss of a life and the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect. Springfield police and emergency responders were called to the 800 block of South Center Street around 2:45 p.m. after reports of a woman found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home. Sadly, the victim, identified as 38-year-old Tiffany Higgins, did not survive.

Schools Closed Due to Threats

During the investigation, authorities learned that the person of interest in the shooting had also made threats against unknown individuals at a local school. As a precautionary measure, the Springfield Police Division, in coordination with the Springfield City School district and other educational institutions in the area, decided to close schools for March 18.

Arrest Made After Pursuit

The suspect, driving a stolen 2012 GMC Acadia, was located by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A trooper initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect refused to comply and led officers on a pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect lost control of the vehicle, crashing into utility poles and a house on Linden Avenue. The 16-year-old attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by authorities.

Continuing Investigation

As the investigation continues, additional details have yet to be released. The suspect, being a juvenile, has not been named. Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
