Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Fatal Shooting Incident in Indianapolis

Erratic behavior and possible drug use led to the tragic fatal shooting of a man by his own brother on Indianapolis’ northeast side Friday night, according to court documents.

The Location of the Incident

The shooting took place around 11 p.m. at a home in the 3900 block of Ireland Drive in Indianapolis. Mark Miles, the victim, was killed in the incident, as stated in a probable cause affidavit for the arrest of Terry Davis Jr., his brother.

The Events Leading to the Shooting

Several hours before the shooting, the mother of Miles and Davis arrived home from work to find Davis behaving strangely in the garage with friends. Davis, carrying an AR-style rifle, started making threatening remarks, claiming to be God and threatening to shoot his mother.

Miles intervened and attempted to calm Davis down before asking his friends to leave the house. The mother, fearing for her safety, called the police after hearing gunshots. She later witnessed Davis coming out of the house, admitting to shooting his brother.

The Aftermath and Arrest

Miles was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the hospital. A few hours later, Davis was apprehended by the police hiding in the bed of a pickup truck with a rifle about a mile from the scene of the shooting. Davis refused to provide a statement to investigators following his arrest.

Drug Use and Strange Behavior

The younger brother of Davis mentioned that he suspected Davis had been using drugs other than marijuana and was behaving oddly before the shooting. He also recalled seeing Davis with a Glock and a rifle as he left the family home with his mother prior to the incident.

At the time of writing, no attorney for Davis was listed in online court records. For further information, please contact Jake Allen at jake.allen@indystar.com or follow him on Twitter @Jake_Allen19.
