The Fatal Stabbing Incident in a Fall River Rooming House

In a tragic turn of events, charges have been upgraded to Murder in connection to a fatal stabbing that took place inside a rooming house in Fall River on Friday night. The suspect, 42-year-old Pedro Fernando Orellano Alvarado, appeared before a judge on Monday morning where he pleaded not guilty.

The incident unfolded at 234 Tripp Street, where Fall River Police and paramedics responded to a distress call at 9:45 p.m. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Joseph Bump, was found in critical condition and was rushed to Saint Anne’s Hospital. Unfortunately, Bump succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead just before 10:30 p.m.

The Rooming House Residents Involved in the Tragic Altercation

Both Alvarado and Bump were residents of the rooming house where the fatal altercation occurred. It is believed that a heated argument escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in Bump’s untimely death.

Bump, who was known for his close relationships with friends and family, is being fondly remembered by those who knew him. Despite facing challenges in life, he was a person who deserved better.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Alvarado, the alleged perpetrator, is currently being held without bail as the investigation into the incident continues. A hearing has been scheduled for May 10th to further address the charges against him.

The Massachusetts State Police detectives, in collaboration with the district attorney’s office and Fall River Police, are diligently working on gathering evidence and conducting interviews to piece together the events leading up to the fatal stabbing.
