Police detectives in Akron are currently investigating the tragic shooting death of a 41-year-old man that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Details of the Incident
At approximately 3:50 a.m., officers responded to reports of a gunshot at the intersection of Inman Street and E. Archwood Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered the victim, who had sustained gunshot wounds, a few blocks away at Inman and Davies Streets. First aid was administered by responding officers until EMS arrived to transport the victim to Summa Health Akron City Hospital. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Location of the Shooting
The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigation, was walking on Inman Street after leaving a bar in the 700 block of E. Archwood Avenue when the incident took place. It is believed that the fatal shooting occurred after the victim was confronted by an unknown assailant who produced a handgun and shot him multiple times. The assailant fled the scene following the shooting.
Possible Altercation
Police investigators have indicated that an altercation at the bar may have led to the fatal shooting. Evidence related to the crime was recovered at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
