Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two in Satellite Town, Lagos

On March 15, tragedy struck at the Chemist Bus Stop near Heathrow Hotel in Satellite Town, Lagos, as a fatal crash claimed the lives of two individuals. The victims, who remain unidentified, were involved in a collision that resulted in a fire that burned them beyond recognition.

An eyewitness, known only as Isaiah, reported that the incident occurred around 5.50pm and was caused by speeding. The collision between the motorcycle riders and another vehicle led to the fatal outcome, with one of the deceased carrying fuel that exacerbated the fire.

Eyewitness Accounts

Isaiah described the harrowing scene, stating, “The vehicle started catching fire, and the people on the motorcycle burned immediately. People passing by attempted to extinguish the flames, but unfortunately, the victims could not be saved.”

Another witness, who chose to remain anonymous, shared, “The passengers on the motorcycle suffered significant blood loss and burns, making it impossible to recognize them. If not for the fuel one of them was carrying, the outcome might have been different.”

Efforts to obtain a statement from the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Commander, Babatunde Farinloye, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

Previous Tragedy on Bauchi-Jos Road

This incident in Satellite Town echoes a recent tragedy on the Bauchi-Jos Road, where 18 individuals lost their lives in multiple fatal crashes involving commercial vehicles. The victims were burnt beyond recognition in a collision between a Toyota Hiace bus and a MAN truck.

These devastating events serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while travelling. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in these accidents.
