Details of the Tragic Accident

The fatal crash involved three vehicles, each with its own story intertwined in a moment of tragedy. The driver of a 2014 Honda Odyssey, 43-year-old Than Than Shwe from Vernon, TX, lost his life in the collision, succumbing to the injuries sustained in the crash. Tragically, a 9-year-old female passenger from Dallas, TX, who was in a 2021 GMC Yukon, also lost her life in the accident.

As the rain poured down, the roads became treacherous, leading to a series of events that culminated in the devastating crash. Another vehicle involved in the collision was a 2023 Honda Pilot, driven by 44-year-old Hernando Trejos from Fort Worth, TX, with a passenger, Lorena Trejos. Both individuals sustained injuries and were taken to Wilbarger General Hospital for care.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Collision

Investigations into the crash revealed that the tragic chain of events began when Vehicle 1, driven by Than Than Shwe, failed to maintain its lane on the southwest-bound US 70. The GMC Yukon, travelling in the opposite direction, was overtaking another vehicle when Vehicle 1 lost control, veering over the cable barrier and colliding head-on with the Yukon. A third vehicle attempted to evade the collision but was unable to avoid being caught in the crash.

Sgt. Gutierrez has issued an appeal to the public to help locate a missing pet Goldendoodle named Allie, who was in Vehicle 2. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Gutierrez at 254-413-8786.
