A Devastating Discovery
Upon arrival at the residence, officers found 82-year-old Mary Heaton lying lifeless on the floor. Despite the efforts of a Nassau County Police medic, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of her death? Multiple stab wounds.
The Arrest
The following morning, 74-year-old Anthony Heaton, a resident of Wantagh, was taken into custody by Nassau County Police. He was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the tragic incident. The relationship between the victim and the suspect has not yet been disclosed by authorities.
