Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Lebanon, a picturesque town nestled near the Connecticut River in New Hampshire, was the site of a heartbreaking discovery recently. The community was shaken when an elderly woman, identified as Mardrey Swenson, 76, went missing in the early hours of the morning.

Search Efforts Begin

Lebanon Police sprang into action after receiving a call from the woman’s husband, who noticed her absence. The police quickly deployed personnel and a K-9 unit to Oak Ridge Road to begin the search. Swenson, who suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease, had wandered away from her home, sparking a frantic search effort.

As hours passed with no sign of Swenson, Lebanon Police requested assistance from other agencies to aid in the search. The Lebanon Fire Department, volunteers from the Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team, New England K-9, the New Hampshire State Police Helicopter, and Conservation Officers from the NH Fish and Game Department all joined in the search.

Community Support

The tight-knit community of Lebanon rallied together during the search, with many good Samaritan neighbours offering their help. Fish and Game reported that the search efforts both around Swenson’s residence and within a mile of the area were extensive.

Discovery at the Connecticut River

After a fisherman spotted something near the Connecticut River by the Water Treatment facility on South Main Street, the state police helicopter was able to track the sighting. Tragically, it was confirmed to be the body of Swenson. Rescue personnel retrieved her from the river and brought her to shore at 2:42 PM, where her next of kin was notified.

The entire town of Lebanon mourns the loss of Mardrey Swenson, and our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
