A tragic incident occurred on Friday along the route to the University of Ilorin, where a commercial bus driver named Lukman lost his life while transporting students to the school. The incident left the passengers in shock and disbelief.
The heartbreaking event took place near the Sanrab Petrol Station area in Tanke, Ilorin. As the bus was en route to the university campus, Lukman suddenly passed away, causing panic among the passengers.
One of the passengers who witnessed the distressing scene took control of the moving bus to prevent further tragedy. He recounted the harrowing experience in a viral WhatsApp message, detailing how he had to step in and bring the bus to a stop after realizing Lukman was incapacitated.
According to the witness, the driver’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was unable to maintain control of the vehicle. The quick thinking and actions of the passenger prevented a potentially more catastrophic outcome.
The deceased driver’s colleague, Sulyman Malik, expressed shock at the sudden loss, mentioning that Lukman had discussed a recent accident with him just the day before. The news of his untimely death came as a profound shock to those who knew him.
Following Islamic traditions, Lukman was laid to rest swiftly after the incident. His friend, Malik, reflected on the transient nature of life and how unpredictable events can change everything in an instant.
University of Ilorin’s Director of Information, Kunle Akogun, also commented on the tragic event, emphasizing the fragility of life and the need to cherish each moment. The entire university community mourned the loss of Lukman and extended their condolences to his family and friends.
