Multiple Homicides Rock Birmingham Neighborhoods

In a series of tragic events, Birmingham, Alabama, has been rocked by five homicides in less than 24 hours. The incidents took place in various neighborhoods across the city, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of innocent lives.

Bush Hills Neighborhood

The first incident occurred in the Bush Hills neighborhood when police and fire crews responded to a Shot Spotter alert in the 1200 block of 4th Avenue West. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Keenetheen Royall lying in the road with a fatal gunshot wound. Authorities believe the victim may have been targeted in this shooting incident, and as of now, no suspects are in custody.

Eastlake Neighborhood

Another tragedy unfolded in the Eastlake neighborhood, where a man was found unresponsive on the road with a gunshot wound in the 8300 block of Vassar Avenue. Despite the Shot Spotter alert at 11:15 p.m., no arrests have been made in connection with this case.

Green Acres Neighborhood

West Precinct officers were called to the 3400 block of Boise Avenue in the Green Acres neighborhood after receiving a Shot Spotter alert. Upon arrival, they discovered two men, 24-year-old Kartece Perkins and 24-year-old Leon Wyatt Jr., lying in the road with fatal gunshot wounds. Police are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made so far.

Roosevelt Neighborhood

The most recent incident took place in the Roosevelt neighborhood at 6233 Blocton Ave., near Brighton and Lipscomb. Officers found a man lying unresponsive outside a business, suffering from an unknown trauma. Despite efforts by medics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Birmingham Police Department has initiated a homicide investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
