Details Emerge in Fatal Stabbing at Fall River Rooming House

In a tragic turn of events, a fatal stabbing took place inside a rooming house located at 234 Tripp Street in Fall River on Friday night. The incident, which resulted in the death of 44-year-old Joseph Bump, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Emergency Response to the Scene

At 9:45 p.m. on Friday, Fall River Police and paramedics responded to a call at the rooming house, where they found Bump in critical condition. Despite their efforts, Bump was pronounced dead at Saint Anne’s Hospital just before 10:30 p.m.

Upgraded Charges

Initially arrested on scene, 42-year-old Pedro Fernando Orellano Alvarado was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. However, those charges have since been upgraded to Murder. Alvarado, a resident of the rooming house, remains in custody and will face arraignment in Fall River District Court on Monday morning.

Investigation Underway

The Massachusetts State Police detectives, along with Fall River Police, are actively investigating the incident. Assistant District Attorney Daniel Walsh is overseeing the investigation, working to uncover the details surrounding the tragic event.
