Accident – Death – Obituary News : Lucknow: A local businessman, Harshit Tandon, tragically took his own life recently, leading to the arrest of Sujit Shah, the money-lender accused of harassing him. Shah has been charged with abetment to suicide and is currently behind bars.
The incident took place in BBD Green City, where Harshit resided with his family. According to reports, Harshit received a call from Shah on the evening of the incident, asking him to meet at the Kamta intersection. Following this call, Harshit retired to the bathroom on the first floor of his home, where he fatally shot himself with a licensed revolver.
In a note left behind, Harshit explicitly mentioned Sujit Shah’s persistent harassment as the reason for his extreme step. His family members, including his father, wife, and daughter, rushed to the scene upon hearing the gunshot, only to find his lifeless body.
Harshit’s brother-in-law, Bobby Malhotra, revealed that Harshit had borrowed Rs 15 lakh from Shah for various expenses, including his children’s education and business ventures. However, Shah allegedly imposed exorbitant compound interest on the loan, demanding Rs 9 lakh per month, which took a toll on Harshit’s mental well-being.
Furthermore, tensions between Harshit and Shah had been escalating over the ownership of the house Harshit was living in. Shah allegedly pressured him to transfer the property deed, leading to frequent disputes between the two parties.
Following a complaint by Harshit’s father, police filed a case against Shah under sections related to abetment to suicide, ultimately resulting in Shah’s arrest.
