Tragic Accident in Udon Thani Claims Life of Driver
A heartbreaking incident unfolded yesterday morning in Udon Thani, Thailand, when a pickup truck veered off course and collided with a streetlight before plunging into the central ditch of Mittraphap Road. The driver, a 56-year-old man from Udon Thani, tragically lost his life in the crash, while his wife sustained injuries.
Details of the Accident
Witthaya Panlao, Chief of the Udon Thani Highway Police Volunteer Rescue Unit, received a distress call from a good samaritan regarding the crash involving a bronze Toyota Vigo with the license plate ฒห-869 Bangkok. Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found the vehicle in a state of total disrepair. The driver, identified as Chuad Krutlakorn, was found deceased, still strapped in with his seatbelt.
Rescue workers used hydraulic extraction tools to remove the driver’s body, a process that took nearly an hour due to the severity of his injuries. His wife, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident, was conscious but suffered from body aches and a laceration to her head.
Possible Cause of the Accident
Initial investigations suggest that the couple was traveling from Chon Buri province to Udon Thani’s Ban Dung district to pick up their child for the school break. Driver fatigue is suspected to be the cause of the accident, and authorities from the Kum Pha Wa Pi Police Station are conducting further inquiries to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic crash.
In a related incident, a young nurse on maternity leave lost her life in a separate road accident in Chanthaburi. The nurse’s car veered off course, striking a man signaling for assistance before crashing into a roadside pole and falling into a drainage ditch, where she was pronounced dead at the scene.
