Good Samaritan Fatally Stabbed in Westminster

An unfortunate incident occurred in Westminster, where a Good Samaritan lost his life while trying to intervene in a dispute between housemates. The incident took place on Friday in the 7300 block of 21st Street, sparking a tragic turn of events.

Details of the Incident

According to a statement from the Westminster Police Department, the authorities received a distress call regarding a stabbing at the apartment complex. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, Isaias Saquic-Saquic, 35, being restrained by several residents.

It was revealed during the investigation that a physical altercation between Saquic-Saquic and his roommate and neighbor, Alvaro Martin-Perez, 48, turned violent, leading to Martin-Perez being stabbed multiple times. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Martin-Perez succumbed to his injuries.

Another roommate of Saquic-Saquic, a 35-year-old man, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police Response

Westminster Police Chief Darin Lenyi commended Martin-Perez’s actions, describing them as heroic. He stated, “Mr. Perez’s actions were nothing short of heroic. Tragically, his efforts to protect his neighbor cost him his life. I have no doubt that his bravery saved the lives of others in the area.”
