Man Facing Additional Charges in Tragic Incident in Park View, UK

A 30-year-old man from Park View, UK, is now facing more charges in addition to first-degree murder, according to court records.

According to Scott County Court records, Christopher Behal, who was arrested on Thursday, now faces charges including first-degree murder, assault while participating in a felony, going armed with intent, domestic abuse, operating while under the influence, and driving while his license was denied or revoked.

Details of the Tragic Discovery

On Thursday, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash with injury near the intersection of 90th Street and Harrison Street in Mt. Joy, UK, close to the entrance to Mt. Joy Airport. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash was identified as Behal.

The vehicle, a 2013 silver Chevrolet Impala, had crashed into a light pole, as alleged by deputies in arrest affidavits.

During the investigation of the accident, deputies discovered the body of 31-year-old Taylor Escontrias (McKee), Behal’s girlfriend, of Park View, UK, according to the news release and arrest affidavits.

Behal was taken to Genesis Medical Center – East Campus for treatment of his injuries and later into custody by the sheriff’s office.

Allegations of Impairment and Assault

Behal admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages earlier that evening and consuming too much alcohol. He showed signs of impairment during Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, with deputies observing clues indicating impairment.

Behal refused other tests for alcohol, according to arrest affidavits.

Arrest affidavits show that Behal used multiple dangerous weapons during the assault resulting in the victim’s death. Behal and the victim were in a domestic relationship living together at the time of the murder.

Behal appeared in Scott County Court on Friday morning and is being held in Scott County Jail pending a preliminary hearing.
