Recently, a devastating incident took place in Ontario, Canada, where an Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter lost their lives in a fatal fire that engulfed their home. The bodies of the victims, identified as Rajiv Warikoo (51), Shilpa Kotha (47), and their daughter Mahek Warikoo (16), were discovered in their residence on Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive.

Details of the Incident

Authorities were alerted to the fire on March 7, and upon arrival, they found the bodies of the family completely burnt. It wasn’t until Friday that the victims were formally identified. The police were initially unable to determine the number of casualties, but it was later confirmed that all three family members had tragically perished in the blaze.

Local law enforcement officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which they have deemed as ‘suspicious’. Constable Taryn Young stated, “At this time, we are investigating this with our homicide bureau, and we are deeming this as suspicious as the Ontario Fire Marshal has deemed that this fire was not accidental.”

During the examination of the site, investigators discovered human remains within the charred remains of the house. The Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau has been working closely with the Office of the Chief Coroner to confirm the identities of the deceased individuals.
