Man Arrested in West Hartford Faces Multiple Charges
A man who was wanted for charges out of Massachusetts found himself in even more trouble after being caught by West Hartford police in a dramatic incident. Michael Martin, 42, of East Hartford, was apprehended around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday when West Hartford police spotted his vehicle in their town.

Martin had an extraditable felony warrant out of Massachusetts at the time of his arrest. Connecticut State Police coordinated a vehicle stop as Martin got on to Interstate 84 east. Despite orders to stop, Martin refused, leading to a dramatic chase.
Police Pursuit and Arrest
West Hartford police successfully deployed tire deflation devices, flattening three of the four tires on Martin’s vehicle. The chase came to a halt on Interstate 84 east near Sisson Avenue in Hartford. Despite orders to exit the vehicle, Martin resisted, leading to officers forcibly removing him.
Discovery of Narcotics
During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia, including powder cocaine, ‘crack’ cocaine, and heroin. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Charges and Bond
Martin was charged as a fugitive from justice due to the felony warrant from Massachusetts, with a $500,000 surety bond. In addition to the initial charges, he also faced new charges related to the incident in West Hartford and Hartford, including possession with intent to sell narcotics, engaging police in pursuit, and reckless driving.
With a total bond set at $750,000, Martin awaited his court appearance in Hartford to answer to the litany of charges against him.
