Man Arrested in Evansville After Crashing Stolen CSX Vehicle

An Evansville man found himself in hot water early Friday morning after allegedly crashing a stolen CSX vehicle. The incident took place at the intersection of Morgan Ave. and Green River Road, where EPD officers responded to a two-vehicle accident shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Suspicious Behaviour Leads to Arrest

Police grew suspicious of the man behind the wheel of the CSX vehicle due to his vague and bizarre responses to their inquiries. The driver, later identified as 57-year-old Mark A. Myers of Evansville, raised red flags when he couldn’t provide the name of a CSX manager or disclose his place of employment.

Stolen Vehicle Discovery

Further investigation revealed that Myers was not an employee of CSX and did not have permission to operate the vehicle. A CSX supervisor confirmed this information, leading authorities to the discovery that the vehicle had been stolen from the CSX yard on Dixie Flyer Road earlier that morning.

Arrest and Charges

Mark A. Myers was promptly arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on a $500 bond. He now faces charges of auto theft as a result of his actions. The swift response from law enforcement helped ensure that the stolen vehicle was recovered and the suspect was taken into custody.
