Tragic Dover Crash Leaves Elderly Woman Dead

An unfortunate incident occurred in Dover, Delaware on March 3, 2024, resulting in the tragic death of 85-year-old Joyce Henry. The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the details surrounding the fatal crash that claimed her life.

Details of the Crash

According to officials, the incident took place at approximately 8:26 p.m. on N. Dupont Highway, just north of Rose Bowl Road. A 2004 Toyota Corolla, driven by Joyce Henry, was traveling northbound when it attempted to cross the southbound lanes of N. Dupont Highway at the entrance for Pinewood Acres. At the same time, a 2006 BMW 325 was traveling in the left southbound lane, north of the entrance to Pinewood Acres. The Toyota entered the BMW’s path, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

Victims and Injuries

Following the crash, Joyce Henry was airlifted to a nearby trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries. Tragically, on March 15, 2024, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The driver of the BMW, a 20-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, and a 17-year-old female passenger were both transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Road Closure and Investigation

After the crash, the roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours to allow for investigation and clearance of the scene. The Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking incident.
