Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a tragic incident that shook the Tata Colony in Mulund, a 19-year-old painter lost his life after falling from the 20th floor of a construction site on Friday afternoon. The young man, identified as Azizur Atur Shaikh from Malda, West Bengal, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. This shocking turn of events has left the community in mourning and raised questions about safety measures at construction sites.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The Navghar police were alerted to the situation when Ashirvad Hospital in Mulund East notified them of Shaikh’s critical condition. Despite their efforts to obtain a statement from the victim, Shaikh remained unconscious due to the severity of his injuries. Doctors revealed that he had sustained multiple wounds on his chest and back, as well as internal injuries.

According to Abdul Sheikh, a close friend of the deceased, Shaikh and seven other labourers were working at the Purvarang Society in Tata Colony. The accident occurred after they had completed their work for the day, as Shaikh accidentally slipped while stepping on a bamboo rod. He was initially taken to Veer Savarkar Hospital before being transferred to Ashirvad Hospital for specialized care.

Negligence by Contractors

Abdul informed the police that the contractors responsible for the site, Rajesh Mulik and Hajikul Sheikh, had failed to provide essential safety equipment such as ropes, helmets, and belts to the labourers. Upon inspection of the site, law enforcement discovered that the scaffolding was inadequately secured and no safety net had been installed to prevent falls.

This shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety regulations at construction sites to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future. The community is left mourning the loss of a young life and demanding accountability from those responsible for ensuring the well-being of workers on site.
