The woman, identified as Zareena, hailing from the Kashkadarya region and born in 1997, was found in her room at the Jagadish Hotel on March 13. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi has swiftly intervened to address the situation.

Efforts are being made to establish contact with the family members of the deceased to provide them with the necessary consular and legal assistance during this challenging time. This incident is reminiscent of a similar occurrence in January 2024 when another Uzbek woman’s body was discovered in a resort in Sonepat, Haryana, India. Authorities suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in that case, highlighting the importance of thorough investigations to determine the exact cause of death.

“Forensic experts were called to the spot. They inspected the room and collected evidence. We also recovered a liquor bottle and certain other things from the room. Himanshu’s family members have reached the spot and their statements are being recorded,” said Sonepat Sadar police station in-charge Karamjit Singh.
