Accident – Death – Obituary News :

OAK CREEK, Wis. – A devastating rollover crash on I-94 in Oak Creek has left a Milwaukee woman, 25-year-old Zamra Hughes, dead. The heartbreaking incident occurred on Wednesday, March 13, shattering the lives of her family.

Described affectionately as “Muffin” by her loved ones, Zamra was a mother to two young boys. Her grandmother, Earlene Coleman, recounted the heart-wrenching moment when she learned of the crash that took Zamra’s life.

“When I saw the car, there was no way she could have survived,” Coleman said. “It breaks my heart that no family member was there with her at that moment.”

The Oak Creek Fire Department responded to the crash around 5:15 p.m., where Hughes was tragically ejected from her vehicle, resulting in her untimely passing.

One of Zamra’s younger twin sisters, Zamuria Hughes, expressed the profound loss they are all grappling with.

“I lost my sister on my birthday. My heart hasn’t been the same since I heard the news,” she said.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office indicated that speed likely played a role in the accident.

Coleman expressed the family’s need for answers, especially for Zamra’s sons, and emphasized the importance of understanding what transpired on the highway.

A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support Zamra’s children in this difficult time.

After the crash, a second vehicle was discovered a quarter mile away, with the driver declining hospital transport. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office temporarily closed all northbound lanes of the interstate at Drexel Avenue following the incident.

Zamuria Hughes reflected on the profound impact of losing her sister and urged others to exercise caution on the roads.

“I have to navigate this world without my sister, and her sons have to grow up without their mother,” Hughes said. “Remember, it could happen to anyone. Slow down.”

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the crash to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
