Man Beats Wife to Death in Bhubaneswar
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the residents of Bhubaneswar, a man allegedly beat his wife to death with a wooden plank and then lived with the dead body for two days. The incident took place in Tarini Nagar locality of Salia Sahi under Maitri Vihar Police Station limits in the capital city of Odisha.
The tragic event came to light when neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the couple’s house on Thursday, March 14. The victim, identified as Reena Jena, was found dead inside the house. The accused, Golakh Jena, and his wife were living on rent in Tarini Nagar and were known to be daily wage laborers who consumed alcohol.
Details of the Incident
According to police sources, the fatal altercation between Golakh and Reena occurred on Tuesday, March 12. The woman, heavily intoxicated, engaged in a heated argument with her husband, which led to him fatally assaulting her. Golakh then kept the body inside their home, leading to the discovery by concerned neighbors.
Upon receiving the distress call, the police promptly arrived at the scene with a scientific team to investigate the matter. During the subsequent interrogation, Golakh Jena confessed to the heinous crime of killing his wife.
Another Crime Uncovered in Bhubaneswar
In a separate incident reported from Bhubaneswar, the Infocity Police Station successfully dismantled a gang of dacoits who were planning to commit a robbery in the city. The gang comprised five members, one of whom had a history of involvement in 48 cases, while the others were linked to 17 additional cases in different police stations.
The police were able to seize sharp weapons and incriminating articles from the possession of the apprehended individuals. This swift action by law enforcement prevented a potential crime from taking place in the city of Bhubaneswar.
