A video of a murder accused, Asif, who is currently lodged in Bareilly Central Jail, hosting a live video on social media has surfaced, leading to an investigation by the police. Asif is accused of shooting dead a public works department (PWD) contractor, Rakesh Yadav, in broad daylight on December 2, 2019, in the Sadar Bazar Police Station area of Shahjahanpur. Alongside Asif, another accused named Rahul Chaudhary is also behind bars in the same jail.

In the nearly two-minute-long viral video, Asif can be heard saying, “Swarng me hain swarng me… Swarg me mauj le rahe hain… Aa rahe hain jald hi… Chinta karne ki koi zarurat nahi hai… (I am in heaven and enjoying it. I’m coming soon, there is no need to worry)”.

Complaint Against Accused

After the video surfaced on social media, the brother of the deceased, Rakesh Yadav, met District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh and submitted a formal complaint. In the complaint, he alleged that the murder accused were receiving special privileges in the jail and that they had been hired from Meerut to carry out the killing.

Deputy Inspector General (Prison) Kuntal Kishore confirmed that he has viewed the video and assured that a thorough investigation is underway. He stated, “After investigation, legal action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.”
