Peel Regional Police have confirmed that the human remains discovered following a house fire in Brampton, Ontario, last week belong to three individuals.

The fire broke out at a residence near Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive at approximately 1:30 p.m. on March 7. The house was engulfed in flames, posing a significant challenge for Brampton fire crews.

After extinguishing the fire, the fire marshal’s office was called in to conduct an investigation. During the examination of the scene, investigators found what appeared to be human remains within the destroyed house.

Working in collaboration with the coroner’s office, the police were able to identify the human remains as those of three individuals. The deceased have been identified as 51-year-old Rajiv Warikoo, 47-year-old Shilpa Kotha, and 16-year-old Mahek Warikoo, all of whom resided in the home prior to the fire.

Investigation Ongoing

The cause and circumstances surrounding the house fire are currently under investigation. Police have not disclosed any additional details regarding the incident.

Authorities are working diligently to gather information and determine the events that led to the tragic outcome. The community is mourning the loss of the three individuals who perished in the fire.
