Following the shooting, two individuals were arrested in connection with the violent attack. Je’On Davis, 42, was charged with first-degree murder in the woman’s death. Additionally, 20-year-old Destiney Plummer was accused of shooting at Davis after allegedly shooting her own mother during the altercation.

Court documents revealed that the shooting stemmed from a street fight that erupted in front of a home on Quinn Avenue. The altercation involved children and a woman, later identified as Tamara Plummer. Davis, whose daughters were involved in the fight, confronted Plummer before retrieving a gun and shooting her multiple times.

Despite Davis claiming self-defense, investigators found security footage showing him retrieving a handgun from his SUV before approaching Plummer in an aggressive manner and firing the fatal shots.

Previous Criminal History

According to court records, Davis is a convicted felon with a history of violence. He was previously sentenced to 30 months in prison for aggravated assault in October 2016 in Kansas City. The tragic incident in South Memphis has once again brought his violent tendencies to light.

After her mother was shot, Destiney Plummer allegedly fired shots at Davis, inadvertently hitting two other individuals in the process. Plummer claimed that the gun accidentally discharged, leading to charges of Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon.
