Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A rural Redkey man, Jacob Schwartz, aged 50, has recently been charged with dealing meth in Portland, Indiana. The charge, a Level 2 felony, carries a maximum sentence of up to 30 years in prison. The case was filed in Jay Circuit Court following Schwartz’s arrest on March 6.

Arrest and Search Warrant

Schwartz was apprehended after Jay County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at his residence in the 10800 block of West Jay County Road 800 South. During the search, law enforcement officers discovered a total of 16.7 grams of meth in a workshop located in a barn on Schwartz’s property, as well as in his van. Additionally, drug paraphernalia, including drinking straws fashioned into snorting devices and a set of digital scales, was recovered.

Charges and Previous Convictions

Aside from the meth dealing charge, Schwartz was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony with a maximum sentence of 30 months. Court documents reveal that Schwartz has prior convictions for possession of meth, driving while intoxicated, and home improvement fraud.

Alleged Source of Meth

In a related development, another individual from rural Portland, Blake William Price, aged 33, has been charged with multiple drug-related offenses. Price, who is believed to be the source of Schwartz’s meth, faces charges including dealing in meth, dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of meth, and unlawful possession of a syringe.

Arrest of Blake William Price

Price was arrested on the same day as Schwartz after his pickup truck ran a stop sign in southwestern Jay County. A subsequent traffic stop by a sheriff’s deputy led to the discovery of meth, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia in Price’s vehicle. Similar to Schwartz, Price has a criminal record that includes convictions for possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, and unlawful possession of a syringe.
