Tragic Accident Claims Life of Elsie Man in Chapin Township

A devastating incident occurred in Chapin Township, Michigan, on Friday morning, resulting in the untimely death of a 60-year-old man from Elsie. The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing call at approximately 8 a.m. on March 15, prompting deputies to rush to the scene of a rollover crash on Ferden Road, just half a mile off Merrill Road.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered a CF 1000 side-by-side off-road vehicle in a ditch on the south side of Ferden Road. Tragically, the driver, identified as Dale Frederick Snyder, was found face-down in a water-filled ditch to the west of the vehicle. It was evident that Snyder had lost control of the vehicle while travelling east, ultimately leading to the fatal crash.

Chapin Township Fire Department swiftly responded to the scene, extracting Snyder from the ditch. Despite efforts to save him, Snyder was pronounced dead at the scene. The family confirmed that Snyder was alone at the time of the accident, as it was customary for him to embark on solo drives.

The precise cause of Snyder’s death remains under investigation by authorities, as they work to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident. The community of Elsie mourns the loss of a beloved member, taken too soon in a heart-wrenching turn of events.
