Details of the Incident in Gwinnett County, Georgia
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – On a late Monday evening, around 10:30 p.m., law enforcement officers from the South Precinct swiftly responded to reports of a pedestrian collision at the busy intersection of West Park Place Boulevard and Bermuda Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain, Georgia.
Upon their arrival, authorities were met with a distressing scene – an older teenager lay injured on the roadway, his life hanging in the balance.
How the Incident Unfolded
The incident originated at Stone Mountain Skates on Bermuda Road, where a security guard on duty was alerted by the sound of breaking glass coming from the parking lot. Acting quickly, the guard investigated and discovered a Toyota Yaris with a shattered window. Following the sound of footsteps running through the nearby woods towards West Park Place Boulevard, the guard soon heard the alarming sound of a collision.
Rushing to the scene, the security guard found one of the suspects covered in debris and scratches. A wallet belonging to one of the vehicles involved was found nearby. The pedestrian, identified as 18-year-old Caden Moss from Morrow, suffered critical injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. The other individual, 19-year-old Kahmari Dials, also from Morrow, was apprehended at the scene. The driver of the vehicle that struck Moss remained at the scene.
Surveillance footage later revealed two suspects attempting to break into both a Toyota and a Dodge vehicle before being interrupted by the vigilant security guard.
Legal Ramifications
Dials was taken into custody and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail at 3 a.m. on March 12. He now faces charges of Entering Auto and Criminal Attempt to Commit Entering Auto. Once Moss is released from the hospital, he too will face the same charges and will be transported to the Gwinnett County Jail for further legal proceedings.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served in this troubling incident that has shaken the local community.
