Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting in East Village

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a San Diego man in East Village last month. Tashaughn Jackson, 44, was taken into custody on Thursday morning during a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 8 near the Main St. exit in El Cajon, according to Lt. Daniel Meyer of the San Diego Police Department.

The Tragic Incident

The shooting took place on February 18 in the 600 block of 16th St. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Ali Jabbar, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Witnesses reported that the suspect approached Jabbar and shot him multiple times while he was walking with a group in the area.

Police Investigation

Authorities believe that the suspect intentionally targeted Jabbar and not the people around him. The suspect was able to flee the scene and drive away in a vehicle towards state Route 94. The San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and assist with the investigation.
