Three tragic road accidents have claimed the lives of three individuals in different areas of Dhaka, including Banani, Jatrabari, and Mohammadpur.

Victims Identified

The victims have been identified as van driver Abul Kalam Hawlader, 42, tailor Shahjahan Talukder, and 11-year-old child Mahmud Rifat.

Details of the Incidents

The accidents occurred between midnight and 5am on Friday. Abul Kalam Hawlader, who worked on the Jatrabari route, was hit by a covered van, resulting in serious injuries. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he was pronounced dead.

Shahjahan Talukder was returning home when a speeding motorcycle collided with him. He was initially taken to Kurmitola General Hospital and then transferred to DMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Tragically, Mahmud Rifat was riding a motorcycle with his father when a covered van crashed into their vehicle. Despite efforts to save him, Rifat died on the spot.

Police Involvement

Authorities have taken action in response to these incidents. Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector Mehedi Hasan confirmed the death of Abul Kalam Hawlader and handed over the body to his family.

Shyamal Ahmed, sub-inspector of Banani police station, ensured that Shahjahan Talukder’s body was returned to his loved ones without an autopsy.

In the case of Mahmud Rifat, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Arifur Rahman of Mohammadpur police station revealed that the driver of the covered van involved in the accident has been detained.
