Protest Erupts in Lakki Marwat After Alleged Fake Police Encounter

In a small town in Lakki Marwat, a tragic incident has sparked outrage among residents as they claim a villager was killed in a fake police encounter. The incident took place in Ghaznikhel town, where emotions ran high as locals took to the streets to protest the alleged injustice.

Details of the Incident

The deceased, identified as Zainul Abedeen, hails from the Jabukhel area of Ghaznikhel town. According to the Ghaznikhel police station SHO Abdul Samad Quraishi, a police party led by him had arrested two suspects, including Zainul Abedeen and Zaheer Khan, during a routine patrol in the Jabukhel area.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse when proclaimed offenders Ihsanullah, Imdadullah, Razaullah, Kalimullah, Irfanullah, and Zahidullah allegedly attacked the police van while the arrested men were being taken to the police station for verification.

Conflicting Accounts

While the police claim that the attackers opened fire, resulting in Zainul Abedeen sustaining a fatal head injury, the relatives of the deceased have a different story to tell. They accuse the police of staging a fake encounter and allege that Zainul Abedeen, who had served in the FC and was on leave in the village, was not involved in any criminal activities.

Protest and Demands

Despite heavy rain, villagers and activists of Mutahidda Qaumi Committee and Marwat Bitanni Tehreek gathered at the Ghaznikhel bus stand, blocking the Peshawar-Karachi highway in protest. The protesters demanded a judicial probe into the killing and the registration of an FIR against the Ghaznikhel SHO.

Legal Action Taken

Following the uproar, the police registered a case against the SHO in the daily diary on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Amir Hamza. He claimed to have witnessed the entire incident, including the moment when SHO Quraishi allegedly shot his brother.

As the investigation unfolds, the residents of Ghaznikhel remain adamant in their pursuit of justice for Zainul Abedeen, hoping that the truth behind the alleged fake police encounter will be brought to light.
