Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) is currently undertaking a significant project to move power lines underground in an area that was identified as vulnerable during a windstorm in 2021. The work is taking place along North Nevada Avenue, just south of East Fillmore Street, with the goal of completing the project by July.

Improving Infrastructure for Energy Conservation

This initiative is part of CSU’s ongoing efforts to update the city’s aging infrastructure to meet energy conservation demands. Brittany Harrison, a representative from CSU, highlighted the importance of this project in supporting their sustainable energy plan.

“By investing in our infrastructure and creating a more resilient and reliable electric grid, we are better prepared to meet the growing energy demands of our community,” said Harrison.

Undergrounding Power Lines

A mile of power lines that are currently above ground will be moved underground onto poles as part of this project. This proactive approach will help ensure that the city’s infrastructure can accommodate the increasing energy needs of both residential and commercial properties.

Minimal Disruption for Customers

CSU has assured its customers that they should not experience any power outages during the construction process. However, they are urging drivers to respect road closures and drive safely in cone zones to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
