The Brazen Vehicle Thief Strikes Again in Bonnyville

A notorious vehicle thief, Klody Cardinal, 19, from Cold Lake, has once again left residents and law enforcement in Bonnyville on high alert. This young criminal was arrested for the second time in just three days for stealing trucks, causing chaos in the peaceful community.

A Wild Chase through Bonnyville

The saga began on March 6th when a member of the Bonnyville RCMP tried to stop a truck for running a stop sign. Instead of stopping, the driver, later identified as Klody Cardinal, decided to lead the officers on a heart-pounding chase through the streets of Bonnyville. The chase finally ended at a trailer park north of town, where Cardinal was apprehended after a tense standoff.

Stolen Truck and Serious Charges

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the truck Cardinal was driving, a 2012 Ford F150, had been reported stolen from Glendon just hours before the incident. Cardinal faced a slew of charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle over $5,000, obstruction, and fleeing from law enforcement. Despite the severity of these charges, Cardinal was surprisingly released by a Justice of the Peace under strict conditions.

A Second Encounter with the Law

Just three days later, on March 9th, Cardinal was spotted by RCMP fueling up another stolen vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado reported stolen from Ardmore a week earlier. When approached by the authorities, Cardinal tried to make a run for it once again, but this time, luck was not on his side. He abandoned the stolen vehicle and attempted to escape on foot, only to be captured by a joint effort of Bonnyville RCMP and Cold Lake Police Dog Services.

More Charges and a Controversial Release

Cardinal now faces additional charges, including theft from a motor vehicle and failing to comply with a release order. Despite accumulating a long list of charges and his recent arrest, Cardinal was released again by a Justice of the Peace, sparking concerns among residents and law enforcement about the effectiveness of the justice system in dealing with repeat offenders.

The Court Date Looms

Cardinal’s court appearance is scheduled for March 19th, where he will have to face the consequences of his reckless actions. The residents of Bonnyville can only hope that justice will be served and that Cardinal will be held accountable for his crimes.
